Producers: Jeff Paris, Mark McCoy, Marty Frederikson.Finely tuned L.A. club stomp on this premiere from Outlaw Blood, a band formed by two former Steve Jones sidemen. Like Jones they eschew any modernistic frills to pursue a basic swamp blues sound, complete with serious slide guitar on "Last Act." Vocalist Marc McCoy doesn't go in for Robert Plant-styled vocal calisthenics or Brian Johnson grunge-groaning, but guitarists Marti Frederiksen and Rick Harchol are good players, something that goes a long way to putting this album a couple of notches above the usual L.A. club schlock. The production is nice, too -- somebody really cared about this album beyond making it another hair-band product. ~ Steven McDonald
